Hi! I’m Jenn.
I don’t have any initials after my name. I’m not a DVM, or CVT, or RVT, or LVT.
I am not accredited, or certified, or a specialist of anything.
I don’t have a Bachelors or Associates degree.
What I do have is Hazel.
When we brought Hazel home, she developed a pretty alarming rash on her belly. The vet diagnosed mites and she was put on medication.
OK, no big deal. Lots of puppies come home with something. Puppies are like kids; they can be little germ factories.
Then another rash, next an ear infection, and after that hair loss.
WTF was happening with my perfect little bundle of fur?
I knew that something wasn’t right. We were treating the symptoms but there had to be a cause.
So, I took to the internet and found that it could be allergies.
We started working with a dermatologist and, after some tests and a lot of trial and error, we finally got her to a place where her allergies were pretty well under control. Things were looking up.
And then she started to lose the use of her back legs.
We were so scared and confused. We took her to an emergency vet where she was misdiagnosed on 3 separate visits.
By the time we got her into our regular vet she could barely walk.
Luckily our vet knew right away what the problem was. It was not her legs at all; it was her spine. She’d broken her back.
Our vet sent us to a specialist right away where they did a CT scan and emergency surgery.
Surgery was a success, but we had a long road to recovery ahead of us.
Hazel is doing great now, but it’s been quite an adventure. Sometimes confusing, sometimes scary, sometimes expensive but always worth it.
Hazel and her challenges have taught me so much and she is such a blessing.
I started My Happy Healthy Hazel because my girl is happy and healthy now. But it wasn’t always easy.
I’ve done hundreds of hours of research and asked dozens of vets hundreds of questions.
I understand how scary and confusing it can be when your dog is struggling with allergies or physical challenges from injury or age.
I know that you want what’s best your pup. I want to help.
You can do this.
Wishing you love and wet kisses!
Jenn and Hazel
